Hello fellow StonePointers,

I was asked to tell a little about my mission trip to Honduras and to let StonePoint know the impact that was made in the lives of many Hondurans. You guys gave on one Sunday back in July and here’s how God used those resources to change people’s lives for a lifetime:

We were able to support a ministry to battered and abused women. The ministry’s goal is to educate the children of the towns around the hospital about abuse and about their bodies and sex outside of marriage. It is really just a changing of their norms because many times the girls are abused sexually by their fathers or brothers, and they also start having sex around the age of 12. So, I was very glad that [StonePoint] could be a part of what is really going to revolutionize that culture.

We, as a church, were also able to buy materials for the pastor’s training program which is run by two of the local missionaries. There are two groups of pastors that are meeting right now and they are studying the book of John and the missionary journeys of Paul. It is a 3 year commitment that the pastors currently involved, will be done with very soon. The materials we were able to provide for them will help guide those pastors on how to preach, prepare, equip, and lead their services as well as their congregations.

We also provided funds for Sunday school supplies for the church in Margarita This is a church that was started from one missionary sharing the gospel with a patient, and that patient coming to know the Lord. Now they have a beautiful new building that was just dedicated back in April.

StonePoint was also able to provide funds for informational material from Focus on the Family for the women and families of those communities surrounding the hospital. Those materials included pamphlets that ranged anywhere from unplanned pregnancy, to raising a family, alcoholism, and depression that specifically relate to Honduran culture and also provided a biblical perspective.

Please continue to pray for the missionaries in Honduras and also the hospital there.

I’ll also be posting more tomorrow!

Christine
