One Prayer Debrief

Monday, June 30th, 2008

oneprayer-preferred-hires-vertical.jpg The One Prayer series is over here at StonePoint, but God is still working. StonePoint partnered with over 1,584 other churches all over the world. More than 867,914 people were worshiping God together. We may never know, this side of heaven, all of what God did because we partnered together and prayed One Prayer. God has done some amazing things over the last 30 days.

Many StonePointers signed up for our 30 Day Prayer Challenge and for 30 days, prayed for their families, their community, their country, and many other concerns and challenges.

We want to know how God has been moving in your life. Many people left anonymous prayers in the comment section, we want to challenge you to leave us messages about what God has been doing in your lives, and answering your One Prayer.

Look Ahead for June 30-July 6

Make Us Connected

This week, The Barna Group recently published the results of a study investigating what makes up today’s American Dream. What is most intriguing is the growing goal of Americans to be more spiritual. It is not a drastic change from years past, but all three spiritual areas polled in the study grew in support from previous years.

  • 75% of American adults in 2008 want to have a close relationship with God in the future (70% in 2000)
  • 59% of American adults in 2008 want to be deeply committed to the Christian faith in the future (53% in 2000)
  • 45% of American adults in 2008 want to be personally active in a church in the future (42% in 2000)

Another thing that this study shows is that people are seeking more stable and consistent relationships. They are seeking better and stronger relationships their spouses, family, and others. They are also seeking a more stable relationship with God and the church, but also the people they interact with in their daily lives.

Bill Hybels, Senior Pastor for Willowcreek Community Church in South Barrington, IL, said, “The local church is the hope of the world.” StonePoint exists to be that hope here in Coweta County and this weekend we will be talking about One Prayer…Make Us Connected. John Donahue, StonePoint’s Connections Pastor, will be unpacking what it means to be connected here at StonePoint and what God’s model for the connected church looks like.

This weekend will be the conclusion of our One Prayer series, and you DO NOT want to miss it.

Membership VS PARTNERSHIP, Pt. 6

Q. If I have already gone through the Membership Class, am I a PARTNER, or do I have to go through the Partnership Class?

A. You ARE a PARTNER and you DO NOT have to go through another class.

We are just changing the words we use. But we are also shifting our attitudes in how we think of ourselves. This series of posts have been explaining the change from Membership to PARTNERSHIP, but it’s not just symantics, it’s about something greater.

At StonePoint we want to be PARTNERS not members. We want to share our lives, our experiences, and our service. If you have already gone through the membership class, and you became a member, you are now a Partner. In the future we will be having Partnership Classes and at the end of those classes, you will get the opportunity to become partners.

It may seem small change in wording, but this is a HUGE shift in how percieve ourselves. We are not privileged members, entitled to rights and relaxation. But we are partners who are called by God to work together with Jesus Christ, to rob Hell of citizens of Coweta County. It’s a privilege for us to be called and to serve. We changed the name to better align our attitudes towards God, to better serve Him, and to better understand how blessed we really are.
