Do You REALLY Want 2 Change?

One Prayer Header

Change, for some it’s very difficult, and for others, it’s a necessity. Why is it that some people thrive on change, while others are stifled by it? No matter how you interpret it, change happens, whether we welcome it or not.

If you have been at StonePoint in the last few weeks, you have witnessed a lot of change. We brought John Donahue on as the new Connections Pastor, we have moved from Theater 7 into our new home, Theater 1, and this week is Betsy Watkins’ last week as our Children’s Director. StonePoint is constantly changing.

But change is healthy. Without change, we would become stagnate, and die. Jesus talked about change in Matthew 19:17 when He said,

“No one pours new wine into old wineskins.  The wine would swell and burst the old skins. Then the wine would be lost, and the skins would be ruined.   New wine must be put into new wineskins. Both the skins and the wine will then be safe.” (CEV)

Many people (also insert churches, schools, our jobs, and other institutions, etc) try to smother or regulate change as much as possible. Jesus warned us NOT to do this. Because when we try to stifle change, it has disastrous results. When we accept that change is healthy, we become healthier and wisdom is the result.

In our new series called One Prayer, StonePoint will be partnering with over 500 churches around the world to ask ourselves: “If we could pray one prayer, what would it be?” Our pastor, Scott Whitaker, will join with pastors Craig Groeschel, Perry Noble, and Gary Lamb as they discuss God’s message for us, our families, and our church. And for StonePoint to make an impact here in Coweta County, we are going to have to embrace change.

Over the next several weeks, my one prayer is that God would change you forever.
