Allow me to introduce myself…I’m John, your new Connections Pastor. And I cannot tell you how excited I am to be coming to StonePoint. My wife, Sarah-Irene, and the rest of our family, Molly the basset hound, and Mokie the Siamese cat, are almost all packed up and ready to head up to Newnan.

I am currently the Worship Ministry Team Leader, that’s a fancy way of saying that I am the music minister for CrossRoads Community Church here in Tampa, Florida. I have been in ministry for over 7 years, but I have been involved with several churches, in many capacities, for over 20 years. I met Scott Whitaker while we served together at LifePoint Christian Church in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Ever since Scott asked me to come on board as the Connections Pastor, my wife and I have been praying for, dreaming about, and getting more and more excited about StonePoint Church. We had the opportunity to visit you several weeks ago, and as I stood in the lobby of that movie theater before your worship service, it was as if I was holding an electrical wire. I was so excited, I begged God to allow me the privilege to partner with you and come on staff.

I am looking forward to seeing what God does at StonePoint. I am excited to get to know each of you and your families. I am excited to see how Sarah-Irene and I can minister with StonePoint, and I am excited to see how God will use StonePoint to rob Hell!

This weekend we kick off a brand new message series called “Hell?  No!”  We’re answering commonly asked questions about hell. 

Colby Lee Carrier was born April 17th weighing 8lbs. 14oz. and measuring 21 1/2 inches.  Jon, Christa, Courtney and CJ are all doing well. 

I’m especially excited for Jon and Christa.  The Carriers were the first family to jump on board with StonePoint.  I can remember standing in the theater with them and 10 other launch team members praying for God to bring people.  They have sacrificed so much for StonePoint and I thank God for them!  Feel free to send them a card or if you would like to do more email my wife Kelly at kelly @ stonepointchurch.com.

The baby boom has begun at StonePoint.  It actually began last week when Abbey and Andy Binion gave birth to their newest addition, Emmy.  Over the next three months we have six more babies being born!  If you ever wanted to volunteer in Lil’Rockers now is the time.

the last criticism we’re going to look at is that Christians are superspiritual.  Superspiritual, what does that even mean?  This weekend we conclude our series with an in your face look at how God wants us to live.  Jesus had a lot to say to people who were superspiritual.  Whether you’re a Christian or not this message is going to challenge the way we view the Christian life.

This weekend we’re going to look at how God expects us to make a difference.  There are some huge problems in our world today: AIDS, genocide, famine, education, social injustice, etc.  What can the CHURCH do about it?  Maybe a better question is what isn’t the church doing about it?  God gave the responsibility to change people’s lives to the CHURCH.
