Un-Forgiven: That’s How I Feel

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

I can’t wait to kick off this next message series.  Typically, I plan for messages months in advance.  About half way through “iWant2Change” I felt God was calling me to change it up for the next series.  I began to pray and read many of these comments and the comments here.  One of the recurring themes was that so many times we feel “Un-Forgiven.”

Some of us:

  • Wonder how can God forgive me?
  • Doubt that God CAN forgive me?  (There’s a difference.)
  • Wonder how we can forgive someone else?
  • Hate it that God forgives the person who wronged us.
  • Don’t want to forgive the person who wronged us.
  • Know we’re forgiven, but live as if we’re not.

Invite a friend this weekend as we kick off this new series.

God Gives Change

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

What a great weekend.  This past weekend we looked at the ways God has given us to experience change and keep the change in our lives.  God gave us:

  • The Bible - The greatest book in all the world.  You want the good that life has to offer?  You want to experience good?  You want to do good?  Do what it says!
  • Prayer - God waits patiently to listen AND to talk with us.  It’s a relationship.  The foundation of every relationship is communication.
  • The Church - The greatest place on earth is the local as God intended it.  It is God’s solution to the problems and obstacles the world faces.  In the words of Bill Hybels, “The local church is the hope of the world.”  And God wants us to love the church as He did.  “And He gave himself up for her.”
  • Other Believers - God never intended you to change by yourself.  The greatest changes are made with someone else.
  • Circumstances - God is giving you circumstances so that you can grow.  There’s no growth without resistance.

How Is Your Change?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Even though we missed last Sunday, how is your change?  This Sunday we’ll wrap up the series with a message titled: “Can I Change My Mind.”

Do everything you can to bring a friend with you!  It’s going to be a great weekend.  We’re also going to introduce our next message series.  You’ll have to wait to find out.  But let me just tell you, we “changed” it up after reading many of the change stories.  We’re going to take a look at one of most mentioned issues and it’s not marriage or sex.  I can honestly say I’ve never taught a message series on this subject.  It’s going to deal with “Un….” well you’ll have to come this weekend to find out!

By the way

Every time most churches cancel services, their offerings take a BIG HIT that week. Regardless of what you might think, most people don’t “make up their tithe the next week” when they’ve been out for various reasons. Thank God we have so many people at StonePoint who are committed to honor God in their giving, whether they miss a week or not! This is a GREAT REASON to utilize online giving. It allows us to be consistent in our giving even when we miss a week at church. I know I can count on you this week and next week to be faithful and to keep the mission strong here at StonePoint! See you next weekend!

You don’t have to have a PayPal account to donate.  Let us know if you have any questions.
