Saturday, September 6th, 2008Hey everyone, this is my final blog post about my Honduras Mission Trip. Thanks for reading and for all your support.
I was able to spend time with Irina, one of the girls I built a relationship with on my last trip, as well as her family. She actually wanted me to spend the night with her and hitchhike back to the hospital with her the next day. I was able to spend an entire day with her, and her family, in the community where she lives. I met her husband and her new baby girl, which was very important to her. I had an interesting experience on the public bus (the missionaries call it the chicken bus, because they really pack the people in, like chickens) on the way back from Irina’s house.
I would eat lunch with [the Hondurans] and spend time with them. Something that I noticed on this trip, is just how giving and sharing the people are. They don’t have much, most of them don’t even have indoor plumbing or clean running water; however, they are so willing to share. We could all learn a lot from these people. They were always sharing food at lunch, splitting avocados, and sharing tortillas. And if one of them forgot their lunch, everyone would chip in and they would have enough food for that person to eat. Someone would often buy a liter of soda and then they would all share it.
I had an amazing time in Honduras, and I cannot wait to visit them again. I would LOVE to talk with you about my experience, and if you would like to go on a mission trip, you can talk to me, or you can let John Donahue, our Connections Pastor, know!
Thank you for sharing this experience with me and for praying for me and all the Hondurans.
Until next time, have a great day!! Christine Bell
Here are some more pictures from my trip.

Friday, September 5th, 2008Hey everybody, Christine Bell here, I am continuing with my story for my recent Honduran mission trip that YOU helped support with resources and prayers!!
After arriving a day later than planned in Honduras due to many delays and cancellations, I was surprised to find out that 6 of the Honduran workers had been fired and one laid off for two weeks due to an incident that was affecting the reputation of the hospital and children’s home. This all happened on Friday and I arrived on Sunday to find out how greatly this was going to affect the lab. So, when I arrived they had called Irina, who was on maternity leave to make sure she was coming back to work on August 4th, which was her planned day to come back.
So, right off I knew God had a purpose for my being there just at that time. I had a wonderful time with the Hondurans I had known the last time I was there, as well as I was able to meet new people.

I’ll write more, and conclude this story, tomorrow!
REVERB: Reflections from Home Teams
Thursday, August 28th, 2008Our Home Team semester is 2 weeks old, and REVERB is rocking right along. At some point this week, all the home teams had to come face to face with the impossible. Everyone was asked for 1 thing that was SO IMPOSSIBLE, only God could do it. And people were asked to share their 1 impossible prayer. Which brought up the question about how to pray.
John Donahue, our Connections Pastor, has a post in his site about Praying Through ACTS. It is worth the time to read it. Click HERE.
One thing to keep in mind is this, Matthew 6:33 tells us that if we pray to God and do what God wants us to do, God will supply all our needs. And as we continue to follow God, and do what he asks of us, we will beginto change. We will start asking God to bless other and provide for THEIR needs.
As we pray how God wants us to pray, God changes what we pray for. God turns our focus from ourselves to others. And when we turn the focus of our prayers and our lives OFF of us and put it ON to others, we begin to impact our community for God. And we ful fill God’s vision for each of us, to love others as much as we love ourselves.
